Ntuc Member Privileges
As a member of a large family, you can approach us for help whenever you have problems at your workplace. We can speak to your employer on your behalf from a position of strength. We help to secure better wages, job security and better working conditions for you. You also get a souvenir biannually besides enjoying other benefits.
Medical Benefit
- Any member who is hospitalised for not less than 3 continuous days shall be entitled to a grant of $25 in cash.
- Any member who is duly certified to have contracted tuberculosis and who has been accorded sick leave for not less than 28 continuous days in any one calendar year shall, irrespective of whether he is hospitalised or not, be entitled to a grant of $22 in cash.
- Any member who has been duly certified to be so ill as to be deemed to be hospitalised and who has exhausted all his entitlement to medical leave with full basic salary shall be entitled to a grant of $50 in cash per month.
Death Benefit
- The death benefit for the death of spouse of member and death of members, is now enhanced under the NTUC GIFT Group Term Life Insurance* For Trade Union Members.
- A member shall be entitled to a grant of $70 in cash on the death of a child provided that a claim may be made for a maximum of three children per member.
- A member shall be entitled to a grant of $70 in cash on the death of his/her mother or father provided that a claim may be made for only one mother and one father per member.
Natural Calamity Benefit
- Any member who has suffered a loss of property as a result of fire or any other natural calamity shall be entitled to a grant of $200.
Retrenchment Benefit
A member who is retrenched from employment shall be entitled to such benefits, if any, as the Executive Council may decide upon its absolute discretion.
Retirement Benefit
Any member who retires from the service of the company by reason of having attained the normal retirement age shall be entitled to receive a retirement benefit in accordance with the scale of benefits as follows:
Length of continuous membership Payment
- More than one year, but less than ten years $250/-
- Ten years or more, but less than fifteen years $450/-
- Fifteen years or more, but less than twenty years $650/-
- Twenty years or more but less than twenty five years $800/-
- Twenty five years or more $1000/-
The Executive Council has decided that all claims for benefits i.e. hospitalization, death, retirement, etc, shall be submitted to SIASU within one (1) year from the date of occurence of the event, failing which the benefit entitlement will lapse.
* Life Insurance
- SIASU provides its members with Accident Insurance coverage for a sum of up to $10,000. Our members are also insured by NTUC Gift (formerly known as SLF Gift Plus) where Union members below 65 years old are automatically covered against Death,
- Total/Partial and Permanent Disability up to o a maximum sum of $40,000.
- Members' spouse below 65 years old are also covered again Death and Total and Permanent Disability up to sum assured of $1000, subject to members meeting the criteria.

- Less than 10 years of continuous membership $6000
- 10 years & above of continuous membership $7500
Death due to accident during working hours
- Less than 10 years of continuous membership $6000
- 10 years & above of continuous membership $7500
Death due to accident outside working hours
- Less than 10 years of continuous membership $20,000
- 10 years & above of continuous membership $40,000
Death of members’ spouse
(below 65 years old due to all causes)
- Less than 10 years of continuous membership $500
- 10 years & above of continuous membership $1000
Education Awards
SIASU gives out annual education awards for the children of its members. The categories of awards are for Primary, GCE 'O', GCE 'A', Polytechnic and Tertiary levels.
Opportunities to serve in various committees
If you have the dedication and time, you may wish to serve in the Branch Committees. SIASU will send you for classes on labour laws and other industrial relations courses to prepare you for leadership positions. Opportunities exist for members to serve in the various standing committees like organizing, sports, women's, cultural, welfare, etc.
NTUC Link (Smart Card) Membership
As SIASU members, you are eligible to be members of NTUC Link. SIASU pays for your annual fee. With this membership you get to enjoy the following privileges and benefits:

With this card you get to enjoy concessions and discounts at leading department stores, restaurants, fast food outlets, bookstores, travel agencies, sports and recreation centres, public swimming pools and popular places of interest.
NTUC Fairprice Membership
Union members who opt to be shareholders are entitled to enjoy annual rebates on purchases at NTUC Fairprice supermarkets. You need only to buy 20 shares at $1 each. Application forms are available at all NTUC Fairprice supermarkets; or you may call SIASU office now.
NTUC Clubs
These are strategically located all over Singapore (Shenton Way, Orchard Road, Bishan, Yishun and Jurong). Facilities and attractions include lounges, dance areas, jackpot machines, computer games, billiard tables, mobile discos, live bands and karoake.
Orchid Golf and Country Club
SIASU has ten corporate Golfing and Social membership cards. Members may use the cards for a small fee ($5). They can enjoy comprehensive recreational facilities for the whole family which includes a bowling alley, landscaped fun pool and karaoke lounges and book rooms at a discount.
NTUC Pasir Ris Resort
Free admission with your NTUC Link (Smart Card). Amenities include bowling alley, amusement centre, and swimming pool and sport facilities.
Aranda Country Club
As union member you can apply to join the Aranda Country Club at discount rate and enjoy a mix of social and recreational activities and facilities.

A good getaway, the resort provides affordable accommodation and club facilities for union members.
